Andiamo a bere l'ultima (English Subtitles)

-- Things aren’t looking good for fifty-somethings Carlobianchi and Doriano: they are almost broke. Since the 2008 financial crisis, the friends haven’t managed to pull off a lucrative scam. They are waiting for the return of their old comrade Genio, who hid the loot from a job before fleeing to Argentina. In the meantime, the men head to the pub, where they meet Giulio, a shy and somewhat lost architecture student. What starts as a “last drink” quickly turns into a chaotic, boozy trip through the Venetian countryside, a journey on which the pair, with their unsolicited advice, hangovers and wild memories, give Giulio a fresh perspective on life and love. Andiamo a bere l’ultima (“Let’s Have One Last Drink”) is a melancholic, witty and loving ode to friendship, failure and the art of getting lost one more time. With his tragicomic road movie, director Francesco Sossai warmly captures a changing world: from an older generation struggling to keep up in the post-crisis era to the ever-transforming landscape of his youth. The result is a drunken wander that shows you sometimes only really move forward when you stray from the route for a while. Andiamo a bere l’ultima premiered at Cannes and won eight David di Donatello Awards (the Italian film awards), including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor.
