Histoires Parallèles

Met het intrigerende drama Histoires Parallèles keert tweevoudig Oscarwinnaar Asghar Farhadi (A Separation, The Salesman) terug naar Parijs voor zijn eerste Franstalige film sinds Le Passé, met een sterrencast waaronder Isabelle Huppert, Virginie Efira, Vincent Cassel, Catherine Deneuve, Pierre Niney en Adam Bessa. Op zoek naar inspiratie voor haar nieuwe roman observeert schrijfster Sylvie (Isabelle Huppert) haar buren aan de overkant van de straat en verzint ze levens voor hen, gevoed door haar eigen fantasie. Wanneer de dakloze Adam (Adam Bessa) plotseling in haar bestaan opduikt, beginnen die verzonnen verhalen een eigen koers te varen. Fictie en werkelijkheid schuiven steeds dichter naar elkaar toe, tot het onderscheid nauwelijks nog te maken is. Histoires Parallèles ging in première op het Filmfestival van Cannes. Searching for inspiration for her new novel, writer Sylvie (Isabelle Huppert) watches her neighbours across the street and invents lives for them, shaped entirely by her own imagination. When homeless Adam (Adam Bessa) suddenly enters her world, those invented stories take on a life of their own. Fiction and reality drift closer and closer together, until the line between them all but disappears. Histoires Parallèles premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Farhadi drew inspiration from Kieślowski, in particular A Short Film About Love from Dekalog, in which a voyeur becomes obsessed with the woman living across from him.
