NEDERLANDS Na de dood van hun moeder komen de zussen Nora en Agnes samen met hun vader Gustav, een voormalige succesvolle filmregisseur van wie ze vervreemd zijn geraakt. Gustav wil zijn comeback maken en biedt Nora, die actrice is, de hoofdrol aan in zijn nieuwe film. Zij weigert, waarna hij de rol aan een jonge Hollywoodster geeft, wat tot spanningen leidt. Terwijl de zussen worstelen met hun verleden en de complexe familiedynamiek, ontdekken ze ook de rol die kunst kan spelen bij het helen van oude wonden. Sentimental Value is, na The Worst Person in the World, de nieuwe film van de Noorse filmmaker Joachim Trier met opnieuw Renate Reinsve in de hoofdrol. Steracteur Stellan Skarsgård (o.a. Dune, Hope, The Painted Bird) is haar vader Gustav en Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas speelt haar zus Agnes. ENGLISH After the death of their mother, sisters Nora and Agnes reunite with their father Gustav, a formerly successful film director from whom they have become estranged. Gustav wants to make a comeback and offers Nora, who is an actress, the lead role in his new film. She refuses, after which he gives the role to a young Hollywood star, which leads to tensions. As the sisters grapple with their past and complex family dynamics, they also discover the role art can play in healing old wounds. Sentimental Value is, after The Worst Person in the World, the new film by Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Trier, once again starring Renate Reinsve.
