The life of psychiatrist Lilian (Jodie Foster) is completely disrupted after the unexpected suicide of her patient Paula (Virginie Efira). She refuses to accept that Paula would have ended her own life and suspects that she was the victim of a crime. Lilian suspects Paula's husband and sees no other solution than to investigate herself. Her ex-husband Gabriel (Daniel Auteuil) bravely joins her. In Vie privée, Jodie Foster plays a leading role entirely in French for the first time in her career. That alone makes it worth watching. The film premiered out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
