Wolf Children

Studente Hana wordt verliefd op een "wolfman". Samen krijgen ze twee kinderen die half mens en half wolf zijn, Ame en Yuki. Het gelukkige maar bescheiden leven van het jonge gezin komt abrupt tot een einde wanneer de vader tijdens de jacht tragisch om het leven komt. Hana’s move to the countryside is not merely a change of scenery: it emphasises the isolation and freedom necessary for her children to grow up. At the same time, Hosoda shows how life in a big city presents challenges: densely populated, noisy and sometimes cold, an environment in which Hana and her children cannot safely reveal their true nature.
