Whitetail

In het uitgestrekte Zuid-Ierland werkt Jen als boswachter in het gebied waar jaren geleden haar jongere zus bij een tragisch jachtincident om het leven kwam. De terugkeer van Oscar, haar jeugdliefde, confronteert haar met het verleden dat ze heeft proberen te verdringen. Tegelijkertijd duikt er een stroper op in het bos dat zij beschermt, waardoor herinneringen aan het ongeluk weer op scherp komen te staan en Jen haar schuld, verdriet en woede onder ogen moet zien. De nieuwe film van Nanouk Leopold (o.a. Cobain, Wolfsbergen, Guernsey) is een internationale coproductie tussen Nederland, Ierland en België. Whitetail speelt zich af in de bossen van Zuid-Ierland, en een groot deel van de opnames vond plaats in het landschap van County Kerry. De rol van Jen wordt vertolkt door de Britse actrice Natasha O’Keeffe, bekend uit de serie Peaky Blinders. Whitetail ging in wereldpremière op het Toronto International Film Festival en was daarna te zien op het International Film Festival Rotterdam. *** In the vast countryside of southern Ireland, Jen works as a forest ranger in the area where her younger sister died in a tragic hunting accident years ago. The return of Oscar, her childhood sweetheart, confronts her with the past she has tried to repress. At the same time, a poacher appears in the forest she protects, bringing back memories of the accident and forcing Jen to face her guilt, grief and anger. The new film by Nanouk Leopold (Cobain, Wolfsbergen, Guernsey, among others) is an international co-production between the Netherlands, Ireland and Belgium. Whitetail is set in the forests of southern Ireland, and much of the filming took place in the countryside of County Kerry. The role of Jen is played by British actress Natasha O'Keeffe, known from the series Peaky Blinders. Whitetail had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and was subsequently screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
