Weisberger werkte zelf als assistent van Wintour en haar ervaringen in de keiharde top van de modejournalistiek vormde de directe insoiratiebron voor het verhaal van The Devil Wears Prada. In this long-awaited sequel to the 2006 film, the characters are once again confronted with the fast-changing world of fashion and media. The screenplay is based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, and the character of Miranda Priestly is based on Anna Wintour, the notorious former editor-in-chief of Vogue. Weisberger herself worked as Wintour’s assistant, and her experiences in the cut-throat world of fashion journalism formed the direct inspiration for the story of The Devil Wears Prada. The film is directed by David Frankel, who also directed the original film.
